MSNBC’s primetime lineup is undergoing a major shakeup as veteran political analyst and anchor Joy Reid is set to leave the network, marking the end of her long-running show, The ReidOut.
MSNBC President Rebecca Kutler confirmed the news in an internal memo on Monday, expressing gratitude for Reid’s contributions over the years. The ReidOut, which aired at 7 p.m. ET since 2020, featured in-depth political analysis and interviews with high-profile guests.
“Joy Reid is leaving the network, and we thank her for her countless contributions,” Kutler stated. “Her work has been recognized with several esteemed honors, including the 2025 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding News Series.”
As Reid exits, MSNBC will introduce a new ensemble news program featuring The Weekend hosts Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez. Until then, rotating anchors will temporarily fill the 7 p.m. slot.
Reports about The ReidOut’s cancellation surfaced online over the weekend, sparking speculation about Reid’s future at the network. Before MSNBC’s official announcement, Reid took to social media to address the news.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out with kindness and encouragement, both personally and in these social media streets,” she wrote on BlueSky and Instagram. “So very proud of The ReidOut team, who are truly family. See you tomorrow night at 7, one more time.”
Reid’s departure marks a significant shift for MSNBC’s primetime lineup, as the network looks to reshape its programming ahead of the 2024 election season.
