Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has appealed to American businesses and investors to seize the opportunities available in Ghana, emphasizing the country’s capacity to foster mutually beneficial economic partnerships.
Addressing the 35th Anniversary Thanksgiving Dinner and Awards Night of the American Chamber of Commerce Ghana, Kufuor highlighted Ghana’s strategic advantages, including its geographic location and wealth of natural resources, as key drivers for building a sustainable economy.
“The time has come when the U.S., if it wants to champion global advancement, should look at places like Ghana. It is a true hub, naturally,” Kufuor said. “We sit right on the intersection of the equator and the meridian. In terms of travel, within six hours you’re in New York; within seven hours, the Middle East. And we have the human and natural resources.”
The former president urged Ghanaian businesses to focus on adding value to their exports to enhance competitiveness in global markets. He also encouraged American investors to consider Ghana as a strategic partner for production and trade.
“I am appealing to all of you to make Ghana the hub, in partnership with you, to produce,” Kufuor added, underscoring the nation’s potential as a critical player in global economic growth.
Kufuor’s remarks come as Ghana seeks to attract more foreign investment to drive economic transformation and create opportunities for its citizens. His call highlights the country’s readiness to collaborate with international partners for mutual progress.
