Let’s Join Hands In The Fight Against Galamsey- Dr. Godfred Andoh Advises Christian Leaders
Dr. Godfred Andoh, Convener of Transformation Conference has prompted Christians in Ghana on the need to fight for the preservation of the country’s natural resources.
Reflecting on the magnitude of damage done to water bodies in the country by illegal mining (popularly known as galamsey) and how fertile lands have been rendered useless, he asserted that Christians who hold the majority of Ghana’s population must take their rightful positions as agents of positive transformation too put the society in a holistic growth and development-oriented direction.
Dr Godfrey Andoh who is also a prominent member of the Truth Revival Church in Kumasi gave the advice during his welcome address to commence the three-day conference program which started on Wednesday,y September 25th and ended on Friday,y September 27th, 2024.
The impressive and well-attended conference which attracted high-profile personalities like religious and opinion leaders among others from across the country took off at Kumasi Kyirapstra with a theme: “The 72% and National Transformation Conference”.
Dr Godfred Andoh stressed the need for churches to stand tall in the fight against the destruction of the country’s environment
“Today, he observed, the water bodies have been destroyed and many lands made useless as a result of Galamsey in a country that boasts about 72% of inhabitants being Christians.
We have frequently been indifferent, or even hostile, to those committed to the conservation of non-renewable sources”.Hee indicated.
Christians should wake up and let their voices be heard, not just for noise making, but rather a voice that can change the mindsets of people against the crimes committed against the society, so that they could get the true meaning of why accountability is essential for a sustainable economy.
” Time is now for us to contribute positively to defend our own rights, the outspoken medical doctor told the gathering.
