After a successful first edition in Istanbul in 2022, the association once again brings together the EAU Sections of Uro-Technology and Urolithiasis (ESUT and EULIS) in collaboration with the EAU Robotic Urology Section (ERUS) and the EAU Working group on Paediatric Urology (EWPU) for a not-to-be-missed three-day event, welcoming urologists interested in the latest technology, stone-related and beyond, in Vienna, Austria.
The association inaugurates its 39th Annual Meeting today in Vienna, marking the start of one of the most anticipated gatherings in the field of urology. Over the next two days, the Austrian capital will play host to thousands of healthcare professionals, researchers, and industry leaders from around the globe, all converging to share insights, breakthroughs, and innovations in urological care.
UROtech24 will offer three session rooms, with sessions running in parallel and an area for posters of submitted abstracts and the latest research. The sessions will of course be heavily focused on endourologic, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, offering live surgery, challenging case videos, and plenary and thematic sessions. Topics to be covered are BPH, urinary stone disease, PCa, renal and urothelial cancer and all the different approaches that the urologist has at his or her disposal – including new robotic platforms.
The EAU’s annual meeting is renowned for its comprehensive program that covers the full spectrum of urology, including prostate cancer, bladder issues, kidney stones, and the latest in surgical techniques and treatments. This year’s event, held at the Vienna International Centre, promises an enriching schedule featuring keynote speeches, panel discussions, hands-on training sessions, and poster presentations.
Dr. Jeroen van Moorselaar, the President of the EAU, opened the meeting with a keynote address that highlighted the significant strides made in urological research and patient care over the past year. “We stand on the cusp of a new era in urology, where innovation, technology, and collaboration are driving unprecedented improvements in patient outcomes,” Dr. Moorselaar stated, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in advancing the field.
One of the key themes of this year’s meeting is the integration of digital health technologies in urological practice. Sessions dedicated to telemedicine, artificial intelligence diagnostics, and robotic surgery reflect the sector’s shift towards more personalized and minimally invasive patient care. Additionally, the meeting will address the critical issue of men’s health, aiming to break down stigmas and improve awareness and treatment of male-specific health concerns.
The event is not just a platform for sharing knowledge but also a crucial networking opportunity for professionals at all career stages. From seasoned experts to young practitioners and researchers, attendees have the unique chance to connect with peers, discuss clinical challenges, and foster partnerships that can lead to future collaborations.
Moreover, the EAU meeting is pivotal for patients as well. Advancements and knowledge shared here directly translate into improved patient care and outcomes. The inclusion of patient advocacy groups in the program underscores the EAU’s commitment to patient-centered care and the vital role of patients in shaping urological health services.
As the 39th EAU Annual Meeting unfolds, the focus will be on embracing new technologies and approaches that promise to redefine urological care. With a record number of participants and a packed agenda, the meeting in Vienna is set to be a landmark event in the global urological community.
The EAU and its members are poised to tackle the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, driving forward a future where urological health is prioritized and innovative solutions provide care that is both effective and accessible to all.
